Spellbound Secrets is a series where we give you our insider perspective* on what it’s like to work, stay, and play inside one of the country’s largest resort casinos.

Whether you’re fueling up before your escape room reservation or celebrating post-game success, careful planning is key when it comes to eating like an expert at Foxwoods. One of the easiest rookie mistakes to make is going into an escape room on an empty stomach. But a quick stop to grab a bite can go a long way toward keeping your team happy and focused on enjoying every minute of your visit.

Buffets and food courts are always an option if you’ve got a hard-to-please group with a wide range of tastes, but if you want to know our favorite places to eat at Foxwoods, here’s what we’d recommend:

Best Place To Stuff Your Face: Guy Fieri’s Kitchen and Bar

Guy Fieri showcasing Taco BelleGuy Fieri cosplay is strongly encouraged on any visit to Spellbound Escapes, even if you don’t eat there. We’re just big fans. “Guy Fieri showcasing Taco Belle” by greyloch is licensed under CC BY 2.0

Grab your wrap-around shades and flame-adorned bowling shirt, because we’re starting with a deep-fried indulgence from the patron saint of diners, drive-ins, and dives. With so many tempting snacks and sandwiches to choose from, you might think that trying to narrow it down would be difficult. It isn’t! Guy Fieri’s has an outrageous selection of big flavors, but our hands-down favorite is the Bacon Mac’n’Cheese Burger with a Rye Tai cocktail. Trust us on this one!

Pro Tip: Grab a seat with a view at the bar and enjoy the free entertainment that is the Grand Pequot casino while you load up on meat, cheese, and carbs.

Best Spot To Meet Up With A New Tinder Match: Scorpion Bar

Hand holding a shot of tequila. Legend has it there’s a tequila somewhere on that wall that makes you extremely good at karaoke. We haven’t found it yet, but not for lack of trying.

What do you get when you cross a cantina with a rock’n’roll bar? It’s not a joke; it’s Scorpion Bar! Scorpion Bar is the place to take a date that just wants to have a good time. The Mexican-inspired menu satisfies almost any taste and pairs perfectly with a curated selection of over 100 tequilas to sample. No matter what you order, the cool Southwestern goth vibes and high-energy atmosphere are sure to set the tone for a night focused on fun.

Best For Living Large: David Burke Prime

With high-end selections like Japanese A5 wagyu beef and dry-aged steaks from within the ‘Salt Vault‘, David Burke Prime is the perfect place to celebrate a big payday or just enjoy some delectable food in stylish surroundings. This spot isn’t for anyone on a budget, but if you’re looking for an exceptional experience with a select few items that are worth every penny, this is the place. Hit it big on the roulette tables? Turn that win into caviar, champagne, and creme brulee. Like Tom Petty said: It’s good to be king, if just for a while.

Best Bang for Your Buck: Johnny Rocket’s

Johnny RocketsEven if you hate burgers and shakes, retro tableside jukeboxes will give you endless opportunities to say “Hey, I bet kids don’t know how to use this!” “Johnny Rockets” by Photographing Travis is licensed under CC BY-ND 2.0

Satisfy your appetite at retro prices when you fill up at Johnny Rocket’s. This tasty diner has everything from burgers and sandwiches to hand-dipped shakes and hearty breakfasts, so whatever you’re hungry for, it’s likely to be on the menu. Plus, thanks to the retro Americana aesthetic and friendly service, the entire experience feels like a trip to a bygone era!

Pro-Tip: Late-night eats can be a real hassle to come by sometimes, so save yourself the heartbreak and head straight to J.R.’s post-game to fill your pockets with tots for later.

Best For Budding Influencers: Sugar Factory

Sugar Factory American Brasserie If you rank your favorite foods based on how photogenic they are, Sugar Factory is the perfect backdrop for sweet-toothed selfies. “Sugar Factory American Brasserie” by Michael Kappel is licensed under CC BY-NC 2.0

There’s a reason you can find a Sugar Factory almost anywhere, and it’s not just because the food is delicious! With high-drama presentations and over-the-top decor, Sugar Factory is a must if you’re into doing it for the ‘gram. Escape room success is as good a reason as any to commemorate with a bit of extravagance, so make sure to put a bubbling fishbowl of candy-flavored blue liquor on your post-game celebration agenda.
